Pieter-Jan Postma in Gaas­tra Pro Sail­ing Gear

Pieter-Jan (PJ as he is also known) is a 28-year-old tal­ent. By the age of 12 he was sail­ing an Opti­mist in the Euro­pean Cham­pi­onships, and at 15 he took part in the World Cham­pi­onships in Dublin. PJ then began sail­ing the Laser Radial, mak­ing the tran­si­tion to the Laser at the age of 17. In 2000, he sailed in the Syd­ney World Youth Cham­pi­onships and par­tic­i­pated in a string of inter­na­tional races. After an inter­val of 5 years, PJ decided to sail in the Finn class. He went into inten­sive train­ing again, and in 2006 he sailed in the World Cham­pi­onships, going on to sail many national and inter­na­tional races, fin­ish­ing reg­u­larly in the top 10. Last year he took Gold in the Dutch Open Cham­pi­onships in Medem­b­lik, and he came first in Loos­drecht dur­ing the Boerenkool Cup. This year Pieter-Jan Postma gained dur­ing the World­cup in Hyeres France the bronze medal result­ing in an Olympic nom­i­na­tion. Shorten sails! For the 27th time the world’s lead­ing event in Olympic sail­ing and the biggest regatta in the Nether­lands will take place this year from May 24th to 29th 2011: The Delta Lloyd Regatta within the ISAF Sail­ing World Cup will take place in Medem­b­lik and is one of the most inno­v­a­tive inter­na­tional regatta for Olympic classes in Europe. Last year, the Delta Lloyd Regatta was the first that strived to broad­cast sail­ing matches with the help of a GPS sys­tem com­bin­ing Live Stream­ing and 3D track­ing and trac­ing. That way the races are vis­i­ble in real­time for peo­ple on the shore. Over 700 boats from more than 50 coun­tries with 1000 par­tic­i­pants will chal­lenge these Olympic Sail­ing days on Ijs­selmeer at his­toric nau­ti­cal Medem­b­lik. The Gaas­tra spon­sored Olympic Sail­ing Team Steven and the recent bronze medal win­ner dur­ing Hyeres World­cup 2011 Pieter-Jan Postma , will heave out at Delta Lloyd Regatta as well and com­pete in Gaas­tra Pro Sail­ing Wear on water and in Gaas­tra Sports­wear on shore. The Water Sports Asso­ci­a­tion was already founded in 1890, on 22nd of may. The patron of the Konin­klijke Water­sport Ver­bond is the Royal High­ness Prince of Orange. The KNWV is also the offi­cial part­ner of the famous Delta Lloyd Regatta within the ISAF Sail­ing World Cup, that will take place this year from 24th to 29th of may 2011. The Konin­klijke Ned­er­landse Water­sport Ver­bond sup­ports its mem­bers and rep­re­sents their inter­ests and devel­ops the future in the fields of sail­ing, wind­surf­ing and motor­boat.
